Aquamarine Merak

This is my first project in beading after the class with Noraini last month. I actually couldnt wait to get started on this.
~
I got the pattern from class (of course) and cikgu calls this design merak; she had done it in a burst of orange-y shades (which I love so much). For my project I chose the aquamarine-blue-geen shades. I discover that you cant go fast on the stitches. Your aim is not to finish it quickly; the aim is to finish it with finesse.
~
Once your pesrpective is correct; the project will turn out alright. If your aim is to be done quickly, believe me the results will not be as you would like it to be.
~
I am actually very pleased with the final results of this. Cant wait to get on with other projects. Thank you Noraini for all the tips given at class.

A Beading Class

And so finally I did manage to get to Noraini's class. There were eight of us; the area was cramped and warm but I simply love the lesson.

At the end of the day we had crinks in the neck, achy shoulders, cramped bums (?) but totally satisfied with what she had taught. She had 21 patterns on the syllabus (she has a syllabus - I admire that) and went through the details of each and every one of them.

She requested to see all the patterns we had done on our own piece of cloth. And seem like she shares all that she knows with you. Which is simply great. I recommend her to anyone who's interested in beading classes.

But watch out, you have to go to class with passion. The lessons could be long, tiring and uncomfortable if you mind / heart is not in it. Aini said a participant had had a headache and was sick in her previous class.. so, take a heed.

I had learnt a lot; and am ready to go a-beading again. In fact, after clearing everything last night I took out my long outstanding beading work and had continued again..

What's life without beading?

That piece of work in the photo above is the day's effort (not much when looking at that) but it is all in your mind (and your notes), dah-ling!

Books, Books and More Books

I wandered into Borders at The Gardens recently. And was pleased and amazed to see so many books on beads and beading on its shelves. Kinnokuniya doesnt have that many. And MPH has less (or none - at least the one closest to home doesnt).

It was late and I didnt have time to browse through the books. But or course I plan to visit Borders again.

A few of the books on the shelf

I should get this..

Simply Dont Have The Time

I have a new beading project.. I went bead-shopping on Fri after office in spite of the drizzle.. semangat gitu.. Tried to sew my beads last weekend but other people in the world seem to have other plans.. (well, only the people closest to me limited my beading activities a bit actually..)

So instead of doing my beads stuff I ended up shopping for pots and plants and of course planting 'em vege plants that I have (unfortunately I do not have photos for that)..

I also baked a cake that was so hopelessly tak jadi (of course I dont have a photo of that! ha-ha ) which also took up my bead-time.. heh..heh..

So I hope I'll have more time after raya haji for my project..

In Retrospect

I started the blog early in the year but didnt post anything much here.. But now I think maybe I will change that.

I only hope I would update the blog as regularly as I do my with my life, food and other perspectives blogs..

But my biggest worry is the fact that I like to move from one interest to another at the drop of a hat, so to speak.. Then I'd lose interest in the previous hobby altogether until a new, tiny atom of something re-ignites the spark again. Nevertheless, maybe I shouldnt worry about that now.

This is where I occassionally work - outside - the lights are good and the water spurting at the pond is just so soothing. Mornings are the best time till the sun changes angle and shines directly to the corner.

.. and these are bits of the stuff I use (there are lots more in the cupboard..)

Crazily In Love With Beads

Well, I'd like to think that the whole bead thing started when I enrolled for Radzuan Radwill's class sometime in April last year. Maybe the class is more like a turning stone..

This is the picture with my fave cikgu from the blog post I did last year..

I have always been interested in these beads and crystals - especially swarovski. But these days even the glass beads are so pretty. I went to a jewellery making class once that use imported glass beads and it was fun. Norley (the teacher - a pretty lady with bubbly personality) taught me to do a three layered necklace.

I didnt have a photo with Norley though. Went back to her shop, but she has moved and untraceable - what a pity - I really like her.
